Increased Allergies

A number of women experienced increased allergies as part of their menopause symptoms. Vitamin C for example is beneficial in fighting allergies and has also anti-stress properties. In addition, Vitamin C also helps in reducing the other menopause symptoms like hot flashes and vaginal dryness. Regular exercises, eating right and healthy lifestyle are also important aspect in avoiding allergy symptoms.
There are also antihistamine drugs that can block histamine, a substance that is released by the body when it is in contact with allergens. Although it is effective in dealing with air borne allergies, it should also be used for severe cases as it can cause side effects such as sedation and loss of concentration as well as making other menopause symptoms to get worse.
You should also assess whether to focus your treatment to fight your increased allergies or put more effort in dealing with the major menopause symptoms that you may have. You may find that your allergy problem goes away when the other symptoms are dealt with. Hormone therapy treatment (HRT) or alternative herbal remedies like black cohosh, ginseng and dong quai are among popular options. There are also other natural treatments that are specially formulated to deal with air borne related allergies.
