Menopause marks the end of a woman’s fertility. Fertility in women is based on her ovaries’ capability to produce estrogen and progesterone hormones that will release the egg every month that determine the menstrual cycle. When the ovaries ceased to produce these hormones, the egg will not be released that in turn stops menstruation. This is what is termed menopause that is generally regarded as part of a normal aging process.

The earliest menopause symptoms that women will encounter are irregular and/or missed periods due to the effect of gradual cessation of hormones production in the ovaries. If you decide that you are on menopause, a follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) count test can be carried out. The FSH count will rise dramatically as your ovaries begin to shut down which mean that you are on a verge of menopause. You can purchase FSH count test kit that you can conveniently use at home as a pre-test or screening. A visit to your doctor is then necessary to confirm the FSH count through blood test and/or pelvic exam to check for vaginal atrophy.
